The first Greater Bay Area 5G Application Innovation Competition ended in Hong Kong

The winning teams came up with a number of 5G innovative application solutions. In the future, they will work with the industry to promote 5G applications in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay The R&D practice of the district promotes the development of smart city clusters in the Greater Bay Area.

The competition was jointly sponsored by the Greater Bay Area 5G Industry Alliance, China Mobile Hong Kong, Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute and Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Company, and attracted 55 participating units from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Students, start-ups and individual innovators use their creativity to plan 5G innovative applications in education, entertainment, finance and other fields.

The preliminary selection stage of the competition was held in September and October, and the finals held on the afternoon of the 20th gathered ten participating teams. They respectively demonstrated their 5G innovative application solutions at the conference. A professional selection committee composed of industry experts rated innovation and creativity, functions, benefits and quality, market potential, and social impact on 5G networks in the Greater Bay Area.

After several hours of fierce competition, Hong Kong Zhongda Encoding Co., Ltd. won the gold award, Hong Kong StockVins Technology Co., Ltd. and Renewable Resources Technology Co., Ltd. won the silver and bronze awards, respectively, and Foshan Chuanglong Zhixin Technology Co., Ltd. won the Outstanding Achievement Award. Other awards include the Creative Infinite Award, Excellent Value Award, Extraordinary Potential Award and Dazzling Feature Award.

These teams that stand out can receive up to a total of about HK$120,000 in cash prizes and generous prizes. They also have the opportunity to become a member of the incentive plan, receive financial and technical support, so that 5G innovative application solutions can be implemented as soon as possible, benefiting the industry and users.

Li Fanfeng, the founding chairman of the Greater Bay Area 5G Industry Alliance and director and chief executive officer of China Mobile Hong Kong, said that 5G networks have continued to develop in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, but commercial applications are still in the embryonic stage. It is hoped that through this competition, on the one hand, it will discover and attract talents in innovation and technology, and on the other hand, encourage the industry to make good use of 5G features and advantages of the Internet of Things, introduce new application solutions, and build an open and win-win 5G industry ecosystem.
